On 18 April 2026, we held the Ordinary General Assembly of CENL Members at the Instituto Cervantes in Utrecht in a very pleasant atmosphere, where members could join both in person and online. During the assembly, the 2025 activity summary was presented, highlighting a particularly active year in which CENL has continued to consolidate itself as a meeting point for the Spanish scientific community in the Netherlands.
One of the most significant moments was the renewal of the Board of Directors, marked by the farewell of several members who have played a key role in recent years. We want to give special thanks to our president, Rodrigo García Valiente, a founding member who is stepping down after 5 years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to the association. His work has been essential to the growth and consolidation of CENL, and we are confident that his legacy will continue to drive new initiatives in this new stage, now with Anaïs Notario Reinoso as president.
We also want to sincerely recognise the work of our secretary over the past years, Cristina Bueno Díaz, who is leaving the board after extraordinary service, now in the hands of Nuria Senar Villadeamigo. Likewise, Laura Villanueva is stepping down from her co-position in outreach, now taken over by Benito Marcote Martín. Aitor Tejo Otero (mobility officer) is also leaving, following his return to Spain, along with Alba Muniesa Vargas (professionalisation officer).
Among other board changes, Eduardo Guisasola Cal becomes deputy for the institutional relations office, now led by Marina Cler and Elena García Lara. Sofía Ibáñez, our former vice-president, will now serve as co-officer of Education, Professionalisation and Mobility alongside Jesús Rojo Santiago and Pep Canyelles Pericas, while Alejandro Martín González becomes vice-president after his previous role as outreach officer. Sara Ortiz Planchuelo joins the communication office with Davinia Arguedas, and Patricia Nogales Valenciano takes over the events office together with Carlos Teijeiro, who remains as deputy.
Elena García Lara will continue overseeing and managing CENL’s accounts as treasurer. Alba Sabaté Pérez will also continue in her role as Organisation officer, maintaining order and coordination between all offices.
The day concluded in the best possible way: sharing a relaxed moment at Ubica bar in Utrecht, where conversations continued and the personal and professional bonds that characterise CENL were strengthened. We move forward with excitement towards a new year full of activities and collaboration.
